Flow through porous media - II
EXPERIMENTAL CALCULATIONS :
Permeation data of air
P1 = inlet pressure
P2 = outlet pressure
P = P1-P2 = pressure gauge reading
Viscousity of air at 298K(Pa.s)(Y) = 1.86e-05
Ceramic Membrane Diameter(m) = 0.038
Ceramic Membrane Thickness(m)(T) = 0.004
Ceramic Membrane Area(m2)(S) = .00113354
Temperature=298K
Mean Velocity of air at 298K(m/s)(V) = 467.851
Rotameter correction factor = 1
Membrane support data
Pressure (Pas)

Flow rate (m^3/s) (Q)

Q/(A*P)

Permeabilty factor (K) = Q/(A*P)*101325 |

Now ploting a graph between pressure and permeability factor we have the slope(A) as 1.84e-07 and the intercept (B) as 1.55e-02.
Then average pore radius (R) is calculated using :
= 1.38 E -07 m
Similarly we have a similar data set for membrane with a film and all the calculations are similar.Only porosity is to be calculated using
